Lighting Controls and Light Pollution: Aligning Energy Savings and Environmental Responsibility
Jun 30, 2026Controls on both indoor and outdoor lighting play a critical role in reducing wasted energy and limiting light pollution. As communities adopt stronger lighting ordinances and sustainability goals, efficiency programs have a growing opportunity to align energy savings with responsible nighttime lighting. This session explores how networked lighting controls (NLCs) address major sources of light pollution and lower energy use. We’ll examine the intersection of lighting codes, incentive programs, and real-world project design, and share practical approaches for incorporating light-pollution mitigation into retrofit strategies.
