New DLC Draft Policy: Draft Networked Lighting Controls Technical Requirements V5 (NLC5)
Feb 04, 2020The DLC is pleased to release the first draft of Networked Lighting Controls Technical Requirements V5 (NLC5) for public comment through the stakeholder input process.
NLC5 focuses on strengthening the value of NLC technology while addressing important issues for market acceptance and accelerating the adoption and energy savings potential of networked lighting controls. This draft includes updated requirements for:
- Cybersecurity – the practice of defending networked systems and data from malicious attacks.
- Interoperability – a characteristic that unlocks new energy savings by connecting different systems, and includes requirements for energy monitoring – a capability that strengthens the value of NLCs for utilities and customers.

Comments are now open for the first draft of the NLC5 Requirements. Please submit all comments using the DLC Comment Form to comments@designlights.org by March 17, 2020. The DLC expects to release one additional draft of this revision before finalizing in June 2020.
