Many commercial buildings waste energy by conditioning unoccupied spaces because HVAC systems rarely include occupancy sensors. This wasted energy can be saved with a lighting retrofit that integrates networked lighting controls with the Building Management System. Occupancy data from the lighting system can support “occupied standby mode” to save HVAC energy.
Integration projects like this are rare because the lighting and HVAC trades have traditionally been siloed. The DLC’s free, downloadable “Toolkit” of documents supports collaboration between the worlds of lighting and HVAC. A decision tree informed by case studies will help you choose appropriate projects for integration that are likely to save energy at a reasonable price—and avoid projects where success is unlikely. A handbook plus project-specific templates will help everyone on an integration project work together more effectively and create projects that save energy by providing lighting, thermal comfort and ventilation only when and where they are needed.
The Presenters for this webinar are Levin Nock, Ron Bernstein, & Matt Turk.
Join DLC’s Levin Nock for a Q&A and Webinar based on our seminar at AHR Expo, “Will HVAC and Lighting Work Together for Better Occupancy Data and Energy Savings?” Levin will share parts of the presentation and answer questions about the NLC-HVAC Toolkit.
