Having joined the DLC staff in 2023, Brian Buggs is a relative newcomer to the organization and enjoys discovering new aspects of his job as Technical Operations Analyst every day. Brian’s first encounter with the DLC came when he was a lighting manufacturer’s senior lab technician performing photometric testing on products for DLC qualification. After over 15 years in the lighting industry working specifically with photometry and validation testing, he is enjoying his new role helping the DLC advance energy efficiency in the commercial lighting market.
In addition to lighting, Brian’s more than 30-year career has included a variety of roles and experience, including manufacturing, testing, research and development, and technical customer service. He holds an Associate’s Degree of Applied Science in Electronics Technology with a concentration in Technical Management from DeVry University and a Bachelor’s in Religion from Luther Rice University, and is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society.
Brian is a fledgling gardener and might be found honing his newfound green thumb when he isn’t providing research, analysis and program support as a member of the DLC technical team.
Colleagues and stakeholders alike might be surprised to learn that Brian is also the pastor of a small congregation and spends non-DLC hours doing ministerial work with various service groups in his community – ranging from hospital and home visitations and teaching classes to helping people in need of food, clothing, counseling and other necessities.
