Private Labeling/Multiple Listing Policy

This ‘Private Labeling Policy’ is intended to allow manufacturers the option to re-list qualified products under alternate brand names without having to submit duplicate applications and the associated application fees.  Recognizing the various needs of different types of organizations, the DLC requires the following supporting documentation to be submitted.  This information should be sufficient for the large majority of private labeling partnerships and multiple listing scenarios.   Organizations submitting information for multiple brands should provide this information and the applicable fees with the original application.  Organizations submitting information to private label an original equipment manufacturers (OEM) products should provide this documentation after the OEM products have been qualified. Private lableing applications can be sent via email to info@designlights.org.

Required Documentation:

  • A statement briefly explaining the relationship between the two (or more) organizations or brands and certifying the products to be listed are exactly the same in design and performance.  The statement should be signed by representatives of all organizations involved.  For scenarios in which one organization is listing products under different brand names, a representative’s signature of the parent organization is sufficient.
  • A list of all model numbers submitted for qualification, showing the association of a base brand model number to the cross-listed model number(s).

Fees:

The ‘Private Labeling Policy’ fees reflect those of original application fees at a reduced rate.

Private label applications will be charged $50 for each $500 fee charged through the original application.  For Product Family Grouping applications, the fee for additional family members will remain $25 for each additional family member.

Note: This policy is intended to apply when multiple companies are involved in the cross-listing of products. Products listed under multiple brands of the same company are treated as product family members of the original product.
